Okay....okay...so I like to dream about little things that may or could
happen between episodes.........so what if they probably never happened......
This story takes place right after "One Breath" and before "Firewalker."
It's a little story I made up about Mulder and Scully's relationship, even
though it may not have gone this far, I can see this happening. A bit of
humor in it...tried to think how Mulder thinks...hopefully it came out well.
Enjoy!
Oh, almost forgot....this story and characters are based on Chris Carter's
"The X-Files." Any copyright of infringement isn't intended. I love the
X-Files....wouldn't want to take over the show or get any credit for it.
Well, I love Chris Carter....wouldn't do that to him, except.....I would
love to get credit for being an X-PHILE....I can see myself in the credits
already.....TIZIANA SORRENTINO.......EXECUTIVE X-PHILE. :D

Mulder stayed over Scully's apartment until she was able to move around
by herself. He insisted that her mother go home and that he would take care
of her. Mrs. Scully knew her daughter was in good, actually great, hands.
She had seen how responsible and how dedicated Mulder was and he was
passionate about her daughter, she could see that. Mulder and Scully's
friendship was built on respect for one another, that was something that was
there from the beginning, but as they worked closer and spent more time
together, their friendship became a friendship that made them inseparable.
When Scully disappeared, Mulder had changed, his whole life was shattered
and it was the only time his obsession with his work didn't mean as much to
him. He didn't care about that, he wanted justice, he wanted the truth, he
wanted Scully. But, that was over now. Scully was back.
Scully was in the hospital for about a week after she recovered from her
coma. When she returned home, the first thing she did was soak in the tub.
She felt dirty, she felt violated. She sat in the hot soapy water and buried
her face in her hands. She wanted to cry, she wanted to scream. She let her
body melt into the warmth of the water and rested her head on the cool edge
of the tub.
Mulder lay on the couch with his eyes closed. The clock on the VCR read
11:21 p.m. Scully had been in the tub for over an hour. He lifted himself off
the couch and headed towards the bathroom. He leaned his ear close to the
door and held the knob. There was no noise... maybe she fell asleep, he
thought.
"Scully?" She didn't answer. "Scully? Are you okay in there?" Mulder
twisted the knob; it was unlocked, but he only opened it a crack. "Scully?"
He heard the water and then her voice. "Mulder, I'm okay...I just... I
fell asleep." Mulder heard water splashing as she lifted herself out of the
tub. A few moments later she opened the door and came out. She was trembling.
"Scully," Mulder said and looked at her trembling lips. "You're shaking.
You're going to catch a cold." He grabbed the sides of her arms and rubbed
his hands frantically over them to warm her up. She looked at him not saying
a word. She looked so tired, exhausted and cold. He pulled her closer to him
and picked her up.
"Mulder." she said, slowly going limp in his arms. "I'm fine, really."
"I know you are." He said, and brought her into her room. He placed her
on the bed, resting her head on the pillow. She had placed her pajamas and
underwear at the foot of her bed before and Mulder grabbed them. "Okay," he
said, looking down at the garments and sighing at the same time. "I can look
the other way and put these on you myself if you want me to, but I have to
warn you, I may get confused and end up putting these things on backwards,
or I can help you put them on, but that'll require some eye contact to
various parts of your anatomy. Don't get me wrong," he added. "I really don't
mind the first or second choice, it's just I'd rather you tell me what you'd
prefer, before I begin."
Scully let out a giggle. "Hand them to me." She said. "I'll put them on."
He handed her the garments and smiled. "I'll be right out there if you
need me." He said as he backed away from her.
"No..." she said. "Stay. I'm feeling a bit dizzy, so I need you to hold
me up, while I put these things on." She said and sat up and shifted her legs
off the bed. "I know you won't look."
Mulder went over to her and helped her stand. He had a strong grip on her
arm as she slowly began to dress. Only once did she lose balance and had to
lean against him. When she was through, she sat back down and leaned back,
resting her head against her pillow. She shut her eyes. Mulder stood over her
for a second and turned to leave. "Mulder." called Scully softly. Mulder
stopped, but didn't turn. "Come here and sit with me. You don't have to sit
out there by yourself. Anyway, I need the company." Scully's eyes were still
closed. Mulder turned to her and walked to the other side of the bed. Scully
opened her eyes to find him standing on the opposite side of the bed. "Sit."
she said as she patted the bed.
"Woof... woof." he said and lifted his hands like a dog would when it
wants to be petted.
Scully smiled. "You know, you keep that up and I'm gonna have to give you
a treat."
He stuck out his tongue and made breathing noises. Scully reached her hand
out to the drawer beside her and stuck her hand inside searching for
something. She came out empty-handed. "Oh well, no treat this time boy."
Mulder let out a whimper and covered his face with his paws, I mean hands.
Scully burst out laughing. "Come here." she said and reached out a hand.
"I can't take this abuse anymore. Sit with me." Mulder sat next to her and
licked her hand. "Mulder!" she said, retrieving her hand and wiping it on
his pants. "Do you have to slobber so much?" He bounced on the bed, and then
lay flat on his back with his legs and arms in the air. He turned his head
and whimpered again.
"Mulder," said Scully, looking at his lips. Mulder was looking at her
hand and then at his stomach. "Mulder, I am not going to rub your tummy, if
that's what you're thinking."
Mulder pulled in closer to her and licked her shoulder, then his lips
were touching her face."Mulder, if you lick me again, I'm going to hurt you."
Mulder gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. "You know, it's tough being
a dog. You never get what you want when you want it," said Mulder finally
and lay flat on the bed. Mulder wanted to make Scully smile, and it was
working. So what, if he had to act like a dog to get her to smile and laugh,
as long as it made her happy he was happy.
"Mulder?" asked Scully. "Do you think we'll ever find out who took me?"
Mulder knew who was involved... it was Cancer Man of course, he was part
of the abduction. He remembered the night he surprised Cancer Man at his
apartment, almost shooting his nicotine-filled lungs out. He wasn't going to
tell Scully what happened that night or even what Skinner told him in his
office after he sent his resignation letter. "I don't think we'll ever
know." He said.
   "Was Krychek involved?" she asked.
"Scully," he said. "Krychek left after you disappeared, why do you think
he was involved?" he asked.
"Mulder, he's gone." she said, turning over on her side to face Mulder.
"I have a hunch he was involved. You didn't have to tell me that he's
missing. I have eyes, I can see that he's not around anymore. And you, you
haven't said one word about him. All you told me was that the X-Files were
reopened. In fact, you never even told me why they were reopened. There are
a lot of things you haven't explained to me yet, Mulder. I feel as if you're
just telling me what you want me to know. There are too many gaps and
unanswered questions here, Mulder. Where is Krychek? Why are the X-Files
open again? Something happened in between and you won't tell me what."
There was a brief silence and Mulder turned to face her. "Scully, I will
tell you," he said and touched her cheek. "But not now. You need your rest."
Scully stared at him and he closed his eyes, leaving his hand on her cheek.
"Let's just get some rest and we'll discuss this when your feeling up to it."
he said, and slowly drifted off.
Scully took his hand off her cheek and covered him and herself with the
blanket. Poor guy, she thought. Here he was helping her get into her pajamas
while he was sleeping fully clothed; sneakers and all. She felt drowsy
herself and her head was spinning even more now that she gotten up to cover
them. She still stared at him, he had bags under his eyes and he looked a
bit pale. She wondered how long it had been since he'd had a good night's
sleep. He was completely asleep, she could tell by his breathing. She leaned
in closer to him, placed her head on his arm. She smiled at the thought of
his attempt to make her laugh. She reached her hand out and placed it on his
tummy and gently caressed it, being careful not to wake him. "There you go,
Mulder." she whispered. "Your treat." She closed her eyes and drifted off
as well.

That's all folks!
